BAE Audio Launches New Two-Channel DI Transformer-Based DI Box at AES

New York, NY – October 19, 2017 – BAE Audio (AES NY Booth 224), a manufacturer of premium analogue gear, has announced its new passive direct injection stereo box (PDIS). The PDIS — based upon the single channel PDI released earlier this year — makes its debut at the AES conference in New York City. Like the mono PDI, the PDIS utilizes an OEP/Carnhill transformer to imbue any signal passed through it with a pleasing warmth and analog richness. It will be available soon from authorized BAE Audio dealers and will retail for $200.

“The PDI has been a huge success for us, bringing the magic of a high-quality transformer to direct signals both in the studio or on stage,” says BAE Audio President Mark Loughman. “The dual-channel PDIS design accommodates users who require two channels of smooth direct analog signal injection in a single box. It’s an ideal solution for direct recording of stereo sources, and we’re happy to offer the PDIS as at a competitive price without scrimping on quality components and construction.”

The PDIS features sturdy Neutrik connectors, including quarter-inch inputs and low-impedance XLR outputs for each channel on one side, with a pair of through outputs for each channel on the reverse side. This allows unique routing configurations, like sending a keyboard signal both via the Lo-Z outputs to your console as well as via the quad Hi-Z through outputs to two separate amplifiers or effects chains. Dual ground lift switches help navigate any noise issues caused by grounding.

A main key to the musicality of the PDIS is its OEP/Carnhill transformers. Known for their warmth and clarity in the high end and natural-sounding harmonics in the low end, OEP/Carnhill transformers are one of the premium components that give many of BAE Audio’s hardwire devices their signature sound. The analog character of the PDIS separates it from many other direct injection boxes on the market, which often have a sterile, lifeless character.

The PDIS is an ideal DI solution for keyboards, stereo guitar rigs, drum machines, and more. It can also function as two independent separate instrument DI channels and handle two mono instruments, such as a guitar and a bass, simultaneously. Tracks recorded with the PDIS easily integrate with miced sound sources in the mix as is, or are well suited for reamping if desired.

Hand-wired in California like all BAE Audio products, the PDIS features100% through-hole components for maximum signal integrity. Recessed switches and connectors combine with a rugged steel chassis to help it stand up to the beating of daily studio or stage use.  For even further assurance, BAE Audio backs the PDIS with a 5-year warranty and its industry-wide reputation for excellence.

The PDIS will begin shipping soon and will retail for $200. For more information, please visit baeaudio.com
