Charvel Announces New Marco Sfogli Signature Model

Charvel unveils its new collaboration with PFM and Icefish guitarist Marco Sfogli. The Italian virtuoso is known for his progressive and genre bending take on heavy metal, and his influence has rippled far and wide throughout the guitar playing community.

To pay homage to a guitarist whose sonic capabilities seem to know no bounds, Charvel has sought out to create a signature instrument as limitless as the player who inspired it. A pair of active EMG SA single-coils in the middle and neck positions effortlessly evoke classic Stratocaster bell tones, while an EMG ‘89 bridge humbucker provides a powerful bite. The signature model’s bolt-on maple neck has received a unique “caramelized” heat and drying treatment that imbues the wood with a warmth and comfort that is usually unique to expensive vintage instruments.

Marco Sfogli Signature Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HSS FR CM QM ($1,599.99 USD, £1,629.00 GBP, €1,899.00 EUR, $3,499.00 AUD, ¥225,500 JPY) Italian guitar phenom Marco Sfogli, of progressive metal bands PFM and Icefish, is a highly regarded and highly influential player. Charvel pays tribute to the guitarist and composer with the introduction of the Marco Sfogli Signature Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HSS FR CM QM.  The instrument’s resonant alder body is capped with a rippling quilt maple top and features a scalloped lower back bout and sculpted shredder’s cut heel for comfortable and unencumbered upper-fret access. The graphite-reinforce bolt-on maple neck and fingerboard have a “caramelized” heat and drying treatment that make them sound and feel much older. Given Sfogli’s propensity to cut across genres ranging from progressive metal to jazz, he selected an EMG ’89 for the bridge, which houses separate preamps and coils to deliver that warm and powerful humbucker punch along with that bright and chiming single-coil sound. A pair of active EMG  SA single-coil pickups in the middle and neck positions bring even more of that unmistakable Strat® sound— bright and airy with rich low end. Tap into these expansive tonal options using the five-way blade pickup switch, tone control and volume control with push/pull coil splitting for the bridge pickup. Other features include rolled fingerboard edges, 22 jumbo frets, skirted Strat-style control knobs, Luminlay side dots, heel-mount truss rod adjustment wheel and Floyd Rose 1000 Series double-locking tremolo bridge system. Available in Transparent Purple Burst with black pickguard and chrome hardware.
