Oliver Zisko 'PLAN(e)T-based' album out on June 1st

Hungarian drummer Oliver Zisko releases his new solo album, “PLAN(e)T-based” - on limited edition 180g vinyl and digital platforms - on June 1st, 2026.

Behind-the-Scenes Process (oliverziskodrummer.com):
“After recording many metal albums, I decided to change the concept for my upcoming release. Throughout 2025, I’ve been working on the mixes and videos for my fourth solo album, PLAN(e)T-based. The foundations of the songs were written earlier, between 2021 and 2023, and I have been developing them continuously over the past few years.

Musically, the concept differs from my previous release. While 'Global Warning' was a mixture of electronic music genres—such as drum and bass—and modern fusion elements, the new album moves toward progressive fusion, with a lot of polyrhythmic grooves, odd-time playing, horizontal-vertical drumming and flams, featuring an 8-string metal guitar sound."

Official Audio Visualizer:

The album features bassists Anthony Crawford (Allan Holdsworth band, Virgil Donati band), Péter Erdei, Roland Rácz, Péter Papesch, and Robin Zielhorst (ex-Cynic, Exivious, Obscura), alongside guitarists Márton Kertész (Special Providence, Sear Bliss, Rivers Ablaze), Marius Pop, and Attila Kovács (Bong-Ra, The Answer Lies in the Black Void). The album also includes a special guest appearance on keyboards by Derek Sherinian (Planet X, ex-Dream Theater).

The release is paired with medieval-inspired album art and cover design. Its 10 instrumental songs follow a yin-yang principle: the "darker" sounding tracks are placed on Side A, while Side B shifts into a brighter mood. This dual concept is visually reflected in the vinyl centre labels and the booklet insert.

“I deliberately chose an old-school approach in the mixing procedure, and I avoided grid alignment on the drums. I aimed to choose song titles — including the album title — that are realistic rather than sonorous or artistic. Every song title has its own. real, earthly story/message, which I detail in the booklet.”
