Cort Guitars Expands the Space Race with New Space 4 Bass

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA – Cort Guitars expands on their Artisan line of basses with the new Space 4, headless bass guitar. With the success of the Space 5 release last year, the new Space 4 continues its exploration into new frontiers with improved ergonomics, a headless design, and lightweight performance. The new model will be available worldwide through local retailers and online.
With deeper contours and cutaways, the new Space 4 has an ergonomic body shape that hints at the legacy Space basses of the 80’s. The balanced soft maple body is topped with a 6mm poplar burl top to provide players with tight, full-sounding lows and bright, transparent highs. The subtle “Next Gen” Cort logo is engraved on the body pops quietly against the two Star Dust Green and Star Dust Black finishes available.

The 7-piece bolt on neck is made of roasted maple, walnut, purple heart, and maple to provide solid performance in any environment. The roasted maple fretboard is a 24 fret (including zero fret), 34” (864mm) scale length piece of precision performance with a 15.75” (400mm) radius and 1 4/7” (40mm) nut width. Abalone inlays and a spoke nut Hotrod truss rod complete this forward-thinking neck design.

Just as important as the wood used to build a headless bass, the hardware is as important, if not more. Traditional hardware will just not work. Thus, exceptional care and innovation are needed to ensure a balanced and reliable headless hardware system to support consistent tuning stability. Cort has developed a head piece and individual bridges to get the instrument as light, compact, and hassle-free as possible.

Mission control for the Space 4 is built around the trademark Bartolini® sound of their MK-1 pickups. With their built-in preamp, the Bartolini’s delivery punch, warmth, and brilliance. The enhance the tones of the Bartolini’s, tone shaping is provided by a push/pull Master Volume to switch between active and passive, Blend, Treble, Mid, and Bass controls.
All Space 4 basses ship with D’Addario® EXL165 strings and a gig bag. MAP $749.99 USD.
