With their album release and tour set to kick off in a few weeks, Godsmack has premiered their new song and the album's title track "When Legends Rise" at Billboard.com.
The album is available for pre-order now with instant downloads of first single "Bulletproof" and also "When Legends Rise." At U.S. radio, "Bulletproof" is currently #3 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart and #4on the Mediabase published Active Rock chart. The track is #2 in audience on both charts as well. This week, "Bulletproof" also climbed to the #1 spot on Sirius XM Octane's Big Uns Countdown. As SULLY ERNA explained to Billboard, "When Legends Rise is not an egotistical statement as much as it's a metaphorical way of kind of burning everything down to the ground and build it back up--a Phoenix rising from the ashes kind of vibe."
"When Legends Rise" is the second song to be released from the multi-platinum band's upcoming album of the same name that's due out April 27 via BMG. That same day, the band--Sully Erna [vocals, guitar], Tony Rombola [guitar], Robbie Merrill [bass], and Shannon Larkin [drums]--will kick off their 2018live shows, performing at seven U.S. festivals through July 14 (see the dates below). Next up is their co-headlining six-week outdoor amphitheater tour with Shinedown which kicks off July 22 and hits more than 30 cities.
Earlier this month, Godsmack premiered the official music video for "Bulletproof." Directed by filmmaker Troy Smith, the song's video is a short film that parodies the making of a rock video with cameos from Billy Ray Cyrus and Sebastian Bach. Sully ultimately hires his crazy Italian cousin to direct the video and everything goes wrong.
20 years since the release of their debut album and 20 million album sales later, Godsmack are an even stronger animal than before. The proof is in the grooves of When Legends Rise, the band's seventh studio album and their first album in four years.
