New OS updates bring full Quad Cortex compatibility for the Fortin Nameless Suite X and Soldano SLO-100 X plugins, along with new devices and exciting features.
HELSINKI, FINLAND, December 2, 2024 — Neural DSP today announced the introduction of significant updates for its award-winning Quad Cortex Floorboard Amp Modeler. CorOS 3.1.0 and Cortex Control 1.2.0 are now available, offering expanded features, functionality, and plugin compatibility. Specifically, CorOS 3.1.0 introduces full Quad Cortex support for two of Neural DSP’s popular plugins: Fortin Nameless Suite X and Soldano SLO-100 X. Additional Neural DSP plugins will be compatible with the Quad Cortex as their corresponding CorOS updates are released.
“CorOS 3.1.0 and Cortex Control 1.2.0 showcase our relentless drive to keep the Quad Cortex at the leading edge of possibilities for the guitar,” stated Dan Davies, Neural DSP Chief Marketing Officer. “CorOS 3.1.0 is laden with even more features, amplifiers, overdrives, and effects that further establishes the Quad Cortex as the market’s leading solution and a must-have for guitarists, bassists, and other musicians.”
The award-winning Quad Cortex is the world’s most powerful floorboard amp modeler offering limitless tone-shaping options and premium sound quality, all in an ultra-portable form. It has become the go-to choice for top artists due to its unmatched sound quality, reliability, and versatility both on stage and in the studio. With CorOS 3.1.0 and Cortex Control 1.2.0, its capabilities are further expanded.
These updates also address minor but important user-reported issues, such as the bug where two presets could be saved with the same name in a setlist if the first preset’s name began with a lowercase letter. But most notably, the updates vastly expand functionality, adding new features and broadening plugin compatibility.
New Features — Designed to increase productivity and creativity:
Plugin Compatibility for Fortin Nameless Suite X and Soldano SLO-100 X: If you have licenses for either of these plugins, all the devices from these plugins can now be loaded onto your Quad Cortex. For more information, read our Plugin Compatibility (PCOM) page.
Import Plugin Presets: It is now possible to import presets from Quad Cortex-compatible plugins via Cortex Control. Simply drag-and-drop compatible plugin preset files from your computer onto a Preset folder in Cortex Control.
Bulk Editing: Bulk-edit the names of Presets, Neural Captures, and Impulse Responses via the Directory by selecting multiple items and tapping the “Edit” button. You can also bulk-edit metadata for Presets and Neural Captures.
Rename Stomp Assignments in Stomp Mode Gig View: Tap the “Edit” button in Gig View while in Stomp Mode to rename the Stomp assignments.
Momentary Footswitch Behavior in Stomp Mode: Stomp Mode now supports momentary footswitch behavior. Configure momentary switch behavior after pressing the “Assign Footswitch” button in the parameter while in Stomp Mode or Hybrid Stomp Mode. Momentary footswitches can also be assigned when renaming Stomps within Gig View.
Master Volume Knob Assignments: The Master Volume Knob Assignments now appear when you adjust the Master Volume Knob, allowing you to change the settings without entering the Settings menu.
New Plugin Devices
In addition to the inclusion of the Fortin Nameless Suite X and Soldano SLO-100 X plugins, CorOS 3.1.0 and Cortex Control 1.2.0 also bring new and updated modeled devices to the Quad Cortex device library. These include Guitar Amplifiers (the US DLX 64 Vintage, based on a Fender® Deluxe Reverb ‘64 Vintage®); Pitch Effects (Chief OC2, based on a BOSS® OC-2 and Subharmonic Synth, based on a Digitech® DOD® Meatbox SubSynth®); Modulation Effects (Harmonic Tremolo); and Wah Pedals (Crying Wah From Hell, based on a Dunlop® Crybaby from Hell®).
To take full advantage of these and other new features, we recommend that all Quad Cortex users update to CorOS 3.1.0 and install Cortex Control 1.2.0.
"With the CorOS 3.1.0 and Cortex Control 1.2.0 updates, we’ve expanded the Quad Cortex’s capabilities to empower musicians with even more creative potential. We’re looking forward to seeing how these new features enhance the sound design process and inspire fresh musical possibilities." says Douglas Castro, CEO at Neural DSP Technologies.
