ANAHEIM, CA (JANUARY 23, 2025) –– Today, Ernie Ball Music Man is proud to introduce the all-new StingRay II Guitar. Developed in collaboration with funk virtuoso Cory Wong (Vulfpeck, The Fearless Flyers, Cory Wong Band), the StingRay II and StingRay II Deluxe are visually inspired by the iconic StingRay Bass. Featuring this ergonomic body design, ultra-clean Cory Wong HT humbucking pickups, gold hardware, and a custom neck plate, the StingRay II guitar provides unmatched clarity, articulation, and balance for Cory’s demanding playing style.
In addition, Ernie Ball Music Man is announcing updates to multiple instrument collections, including the StingRay Special Bass, Steve Lukather Luke 4 Signature Guitar, Dustin Kensrue Artist Series StingRay, Rabea Massaad Artist Series Sabre, and the John Petrucci JP15 Signature models.
The Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay II and StingRay II Deluxe were designed in collaboration with Cory Wong to deliver unmatched clarity, versatility, and precision for every performance. Both models feature a roasted figured maple neck, 22 stainless steel frets, ultra-clean Cory Wong HT humbuckers, and an ergonomic body design for smooth playability and effortless fret access. The Deluxe model adds a roasted maple fretboard, parchment binding, and a matching headstock for a refined touch. Inspired by the iconic StingRay Bass, both guitars showcase sleek styling with a redesigned larger headstock, a custom Cory Wong neck plate, and gold hardware for a sophisticated finish.

StingRay Bass
First introduced in 1976, the StingRay has been revered as one of the most iconic bass guitars in history. The flagship of the Music Man line, today's StingRay Special retains the same signature features that it had some forty years ago, including a solid roadworthy construction, iconic oval pickguard, 3+1 tuning key configurations, and the ever-popular Music Man humbucker, all of which combine to produce a look, feel, and sound that is remarkably unmistakable.
The StingRay Special will be available in 4 or 5-string in either H or HH pickup configurations. These all-new colorways will be available this spring, including Dazzler, Oxblood, Butane Blue, Cherry Punch, Faded Vintage, and Fallout Green.
JP15
Renowned for his technical mastery and groundbreaking career as the guitarist for Dream Theater, John Petrucci has consistently pushed the boundaries of modern guitar design. The JP15 Signature Guitar Collection receives an exciting update this year, featuring four new finishes - Red Tide, Ultramarine, Amber Waves, and Green Tiger Eye - available with quilted or flamed tops, available in 6-string and 7-string configurations, adding fresh options to this acclaimed series.
In addition, two limited Ball Family Reserve (BFR) 6-string models - Toxic Sludge and Solar Flare - feature Black Limba bodies, buckeye burl tops, and ebony fretboards with only 100 pieces per model produced.
The new JP15 colorways will be available this spring.
L4
The Steve Lukather Luke 4 (L4) Signature Guitar Collection receives an update this year with the addition of new pickup configurations and finishes. Now offered in both HH and HSS configurations, the L4 continues to showcase over three decades of collaboration with Platinum and Grammy award-winning artist Steve Lukather, whose legendary career spans countless sessions and his role as the leader of Toto.
The collection introduces three stunning finishes: Butane Blue, Fireball, and Black Sparkle. Additionally, the HH flamed maple top model debuts two bold finishes: Afterburn and Grape Slushie.
The updated L4 Collection will be available this spring.
Kaizen
Designed for the modern player and inspired by Tosin Abasi’s innovative style, the Ernie Ball Music Man Kaizen returns in 2025 as a highly exclusive release.
Crafted with a Black Limba body, this Kaizen features a stunning satin finish that highlights bold black streaks and natural imperfections, making every guitar truly one of a kind. The roasted figured maple neck with an oil and wax finish and smokey ebony fingerboard add a touch of elegance to its bold design. In addition, the Kaizen comes equipped with a multiscale neck, 24 stainless steel frets, a Music Man HT humbucker, a custom offset mini humbucker, a Music Man tremolo, and Steinberger gearless tuners.
Limited to just 50 six-string and 50 seven-string models, this one-of-a-kind release will be available this summer.
Sabre
The Rabea Massaad Artist Series Sabre Guitar returns in 2025 with two striking new finishes: Azur Burst and Carian Burst. Designed in collaboration with guitarist and composer Rabea Massaad, this model features a custom tapered neck carve, a recessed lower horn for effortless upper fret access, and glow-in-the-dark side dot markers for enhanced visibility.
Equipped with a custom Ernie Ball Music Man tremolo, Rabea Massaad signature Bare Knuckle “Silo” humbuckers, and push-push electronics for seamless single-coil tones, the Sabre is built for versatility and performance.
The new Rabea Massaad Artist Series Sabre colorways will be available this spring.
Dustin Kensrue StingRay
The Dustin Kensrue Artist Series StingRay Guitar is the result of a collaboration between Ernie Ball Music Man’s award-winning design team and the acclaimed singer-songwriter and guitarist. Designed with innovative features tailored to Dustin’s playing style, this signature model offers a fresh take on one of our most popular designs, combining unique finishes with player-focused enhancements.
For 2025, the Dustin Kensrue Artist Series StingRay Guitar is now available at all Ernie Ball Music Man retailers, featuring a new finish: Daiquiri Ice, alongside TV Blonde and Dark Satin Tobacco Burst.
