Native Instruments and Dinamo drop limited-edition MASCHINE MK3

The collaboration sees Native’s iconic hardware meet the influential Swiss design agency’s fearless approach to design.

June 24, 2021 – Native Instruments and Dinamo today launched MASCHINE Dinamo, a limited-run MASCHINE MK3 as part of a new collaboration between the Berlin-based music company and Basel type foundry.

Limited to 750 pieces worldwide, the release sees the iconic MASCHINE MK3 tricked out in a silver and black screenprint with Dinamo’s Inktrap typeface on every surface – an homage to bold design and chunky aesthetics.

Inktrap fonts originally included notches designed to stop ink bleed in early printing. Dinamo’s rework lends the style contemporary utility by controlling light bleed on MASCHINE’s lazer-etched buttons.

The typeface wraps the edges of the unit in a double nod to 80s and 90s-era throw-up graffiti and marquee news tickers – both ubiquitous to the decades that spawned sample-based music making.

The release marks the first time Native has opened the iconic MASCHINE line to a collaboration with a design studio.

MASCHINE Dinamo is out now and is available at the Native Instruments website.
