New DIY VCA module includes 60 page build manual explaining both the electronics and step-by-step build instructions
Riga, Latvia, February 7, 2022 — Erica Synths announces the latest module in its series of educational DIY kits in cooperation with Moritz Klein: a DIY VCA module. The mki x es. EDU VCA is simple, yet efficient dual VCA for any Eurorack system. It has DC coupled inputs, so you can use the VCA for both audio and CV signals. Inputs of the second VCA are normalled to the first one, which allows splitting of the audio signal to both VCA or control both VCAs with a single CV. A 60 page build manual explains electronics behind the module and provides step-by step build instructions. Pricing is set at RRP: 55 EUR (VAT excl.) MAP: 69 USD.
In total, the mki x es .EDU project consists of 9 kits, developed so users can create a fully featured modular mono-synth including a sequencer, a VCO, a wavefolder, a noise/S&H module, a mixer, a VCF, an envelope generator, a dual VCA and an output stereo mixer with a headphone amplifier. Additionally, an affordable Eurorack case with a DIY PSU will also be available. While these kits are easy to build, no compromise was made on design and functionality.
A new DIY kit launches every 4-6 weeks, and comes with an extensive user manual (40+ pages) that provides a deep dive into both the electronics behind each circuit as well as the fundamental principles of sound synthesis.
Rather than more typical DIY kits that are simply meant to be soldered together and place in a rack, the new educational kits from mki x es .EDU takes users through the entire circuit design process step by step, so every choice is made clear on how it impacts the finished module.
The developers hope that the new mki x es .EDU project will inspire future engineers and will contribute to the ever growing diversity of electronic music technology. For more information on the new DIY VCA module, or the broader mki x es .EDU project, please visit the Erica Synths product page.
