Brooklyn, NY – November 30, 2017 -- This December, FilmRise will release “Chicago: The Terry Kath Experience, the documentary feature film by Michelle Kath Sinclair, paying homage to her father, founding member and legendary Chicago guitarist Terry Kath. After discovering a box of Chicago memorabilia, Michelle began work on this documentary as a way to get to know and understand her father, one of the great unsung rock legends of the 1970s. Featuring interviews with Kath’s Chicago bandmates, friends, family, and prominent musicians (including Joe Walsh, Jeff Lynne, Steve Lukather, Mike Campbell, and Dean DeLeo), the film is interspersed with concert footage, archival photos, and video taken by Kath himself, as a way to piece together a life that ended tragically too soon. “Chicago: The Terry Kath Experience” will be available for sale and rental on Amazon Video, iTunes, and Vudu, as well as DVD and Blu-ray beginningDecember 12, 2017.

Kath is one of the most influential yet underrated guitar players of all time. He played and composed totally by ear, never having had any guitar lessons. His mixing of blues, jazz, and rock, along with his soulful, melodic vocals helped skyrocket Chicago to fame, and has been praised by rock icons including Jimi Hendrix, Joe Walsh, and Eric Clapton. At the time of Kath’s death, Chicago had released 11 consecutive platinum-selling albums including two greatest hits, a Live at Carnegie Hall album, and multiple world tours.

Premiering as an Official Selection at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2016, The Hollywood Reporter calls the film “a bittersweet memorial to a fallen guitar hero…this warm-hearted labor of love is still a welcome reminder of his immense talent.” In April 2016, Chicago was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The DVD and Blu-ray feature raw and uncut bonus footage with behind-the-scenes moments of Michelle’s journey as well as clips that did not make the final cut, including Michelle's backstage concert meet up with Chicago, a candid look at the interview with Michelle and her mother Camelia, an exclusive look at the Chicago members as they share stories about living with Terry Kath, bonus footage from Michelle and Camelia’s visit to Caribou Rach and a special compilation of Terry Kath's 8mm home footage with commentary.

The film has a running time of 89 minutes with 32 minutes of bonus features and is Not Rated.
