The Latest Chapter Of Fender’s The One. For All. Campaign Celebrates Kim Gordon’s Singular Creative Voice And Enduring Influence On Music And Culture
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (October 27, 2026) — Today, Fender Musical Instruments Corporation (FMIC) introduces the Limited Edition Kim Gordon Jazzmaster®, a new signature guitar created in collaboration with the artist and cultural icon herself. Designed around Gordon’s distinctive approach to guitar, using the instrument as a vehicle for experimentation, texture and sound, the model pairs classic Jazzmaster character with the specific features and playing preferences she has developed throughout her career. More than a signature model, the guitar reflects a creative philosophy Gordon has embodied across music, visual art and fashion: make the rules your own.
From her work with Sonic Youth to her solo music and multidisciplinary artistic practice, Kim Gordon has consistently challenged expectations around what an artist can sound like, look like and create. As a guitarist and bass player, she has developed an unmistakable approach to both instruments, using them as tools for experimentation, texture and expression. Her work moves fluidly across music, visual art, fashion and culture, never confined to a single genre or medium. Her relationship with the Jazzmaster reflects that same instinct for experimentation, making the instrument part of a sound and aesthetic unmistakably her own.
“One thing that’s great about the Jazzmaster, if you have a guitar that sounds good by just plugging it into an amplifier, it doesn't need effects,” said Kim Gordon. “That’s really satisfying…I just really like the sound…Electricity in the guitar is the gateway to losing yourself.”
Gordon began her solo career with her 2019 debut solo album, No Home Record, which earned widespread critical acclaim. Her second solo album, The Collective, followed in 2024, continuing her collaboration with producer Justin Raisen alongside additional producer Anthony Paul Lopez. The album earned two GRAMMY nominations at the 67th Annual GRAMMY Awards for Best Alternative Music Album and Best Alternative Music Performance for “BYE BYE.” Her live performances supporting The Collective were praised as “relentless” and “cathartic.” Most recently, Gordon released her third solo album, PLAY ME. She continues to tour globally through 2026, delivering performances that reaffirm her status as one of contemporary music’s most compelling and uncompromising live artists.
“Kim has always used the guitar as a tool for exploration rather than following convention, and that spirit is at the heart of this Jazzmaster,” said Justin Norvell, Fender Chief Product Officer, Guitars and Basses. “Her impact reaches far beyond any one genre, with a creative practice that has shaped music, art and culture. With this new Jazzmaster, we wanted to capture that sense of individuality and experimentation while staying true to the character and feel of the Jazzmaster. With two distinct pickup types offering incredible sonic versatility, we wanted to give players the freedom to explore and approach the instrument in their own way, whether they're experimenting with texture and noise, writing songs or simply looking for new sounds.”
