NASHVILLE, TN (February 27, 2026) — The Very Day, the acclaimed solo album from legendary songwriter, synth pioneer, and founding member of Steve Porcaro, is now available for the first time as a physical release. Out today via Green Hill Music, the album is available on CD and vinyl, offering fans and collectors a tangible edition of Porcaro’s deeply personal and long-anticipated body of work.
Porcaro’s first solo album since 2016, The Very Day brings together newly written material and songs decades in the making, unified by a reflective, melodic sensibility and a spirit of collaboration. Best known for shaping the sound of modern pop and penning Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature,” Porcaro turns inward here, focusing on craft, storytelling, and the satisfaction of finally bringing long-shelved ideas to life.

At the heart of the album is “Saints & Angels,” a breezy, California-rooted track co-written with Toto bandmate David Paich and Stan Lynch (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers), and sung by longtime collaborator Jason Scheff. The song traces the California coast from towns named for saints to the City of Angels, pairing warm harmonies with a relaxed, road-song feel that has become a standout moment on the record.
The album also features contributions from a close circle of collaborators, including Michael McDonald, Jude Cole, Gardner Cole, Marc Bonilla, Jason Scheff, and German acid-jazz duo Tab Two. Across its runtime, The Very Daymoves comfortably between pop, rock, jazz, and cinematic textures, anchored by Porcaro’s unmistakable melodic voice.
Following the album’s digital release in late 2025, The Very Day has been praised for its intimacy and craftsmanship, and for offering a fuller picture of Porcaro’s songwriting legacy beyond his work as a collaborator and behind-the-scenes architect of countless hits.
